13 Not Out

We’re here to change the game.

What We Do (and Why It Matters)

At 13 Not Out, we believe every girl deserves the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. In Uganda, poverty, financial hardship, and a lack of essential resources force far too many young girls to drop out of school before they ever reach their potential.

We’re here to change the game.

By using cricket as a hook, we bring girls together, give them a safe space to build confidence, and keep them right where they belong: in education.

How We Keep Girls in School

Our approach tackles the real, everyday barriers that stop young women from staying in class:

  • Cricket & Community Coaching: We team up with local academies across Uganda to connect with girls at risk of dropping out. On the pitch, they build teamwork, self-belief, and leadership skills that last a lifetime.
  • Direct Sponsorship: For just £30 a month, a sponsor covers a girl’s school fees, uniform, and learning materials, taking the pressure off her family so she can focus on her future.
  • Practical Health Support: Period poverty is one of the biggest reasons girls miss school. We fund and distribute period packs containing reusable sanitary pads, removing a major hurdle to attendance.
  • Peer-to-Peer Mentoring: Older girls who have passed through the programme guide and inspire the next generation, creating a self-sustaining cycle of support.
