Keere Cricket Academy is a private not-for-profit organisation based in Kumi, Eastern Uganda. We exist to cultivate excellence in youth by using cricket as a transformative tool for education, empowerment, and opportunity.
Founded on the belief that every child has untapped potential, Keere identifies, nurtures, and develops young talent—particularly from underserved communities—through cricket and holistic development programs. Our aim is to provide a platform for children to grow into skilled, confident individuals who give back to their communities and compete on global stages.
Our Vision
A Uganda where young people thrive through cricket and contribute to national pride and community transformation.
Our Mission
To be a center of excellence for youth development through sports and life-building programs that inspire individual and collective success.
What We Do
Keere runs a variety of integrated programs:
• Cricket Coaching & Talent Development
• Life Skills & Safety Training
• Youth Psychosocial Support
• Scholarships for Education
• Support for Children with Disabilities
We currently partner with 33 schools across Kumi, impacting thousands of children, and have successfully trained over 140 games teachers and coaches. We also host tournaments, coach clinics, and partner with global cricket organisations like Cricket Without Boundaries and Taps Cricket Academy.
Our Values
Inclusivity | Equity | Transparency | Gender-Responsiveness | Excellence | Sustainability
Our Approach
We conduct annual community needs assessments, run an open registration desk for new talent, and build strategic partnerships. Talents identified are supported under a unique development and bonding framework that reinvests into our Trust Fund for Talents (TFT).
We look for girls that are either dropping out or at risk of dropping out of school and work with 13 not out to sponsor them to continue their education whilst utilising our academies programmes.
Achievements
• Over 3,200 children trained across 2 years
• Hosts of the Keere Cricket Festival and regional champions in U-13 girls’ cricket
• First-time participation in national mini cricket competitions
• Introduction of hard ball cricket in local secondary schools
Challenges & Aspirations
Despite our progress, we face equipment shortages, funding gaps, and limited training facilities. Our future plans include:
• Building a permanent home for Keere
• Establishing cricket clubs for both genders
• Expanding mentorship, education, and social impact initiatives
• Partnering for sustainability and long-term growth
Join us as we use cricket to change lives, build futures, and uplift communities in Uganda and beyond.
