At 13 Not Out, our mission has always been simple: enable, educate and empower girls in Uganda through cricket. We’re delighted to share the next exciting step in our journey as we expand our support into two new locations: Lugazi and Gulu.
Working in partnership with Angels Cricket Academy in Lugazi and Pi Anyim Academy in Gulu, we’re reaching more girls and helping them access the education, opportunities and support they deserve.
New beginnings in Lugazi and Gulu
Our expansion into Lugazi and Gulu means we can support girls in new communities, building on the fantastic work already taking place through cricket academies across Uganda.
Cricket provides a way to bring girls together, develop confidence and teamwork, and create a sense of belonging. But for us, the impact goes far beyond the boundary rope. We want every girl to have the opportunity to stay in education, pursue her ambitions and build a brighter future.
By working alongside local academies, we can help identify girls who would benefit from additional support and work together to give them the best possible chance of success.
Supporting the transition to secondary school
As part of this new initiative, the first girl in each location is being supported through their final term of primary school and into secondary education in the new year.
The transition from primary to secondary school is a crucial milestone, but it can also be a challenging time for girls and their families. Financial barriers can prevent talented, motivated girls from continuing their education, limiting their opportunities for the future.
Through 13 Not Out, we want to help remove some of those barriers and give these girls the chance to continue learning, growing and developing their potential.
These first four girls represent the beginning of something special in both communities. By investing in their education today, we hope to open doors to new opportunities for tomorrow.
More than cricket
At 13 Not Out, we believe that every girl deserves the chance to learn, play and achieve her ambitions. Through our partnerships with cricket academies across Uganda, we aim to combine the power of sport with practical educational support and encouragement.
Our work is about more than helping girls stay in school. It is about giving them confidence in their abilities, helping them recognise their own potential and showing them that their futures can be full of possibilities.
We’re incredibly excited to begin this next chapter with Angels Cricket Academy and Pi Anyim Academy, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for the girls in Lugazi and Gulu.
Two girls. Two new locations. More futures full of possibility.
And this is just the beginning.
